As a neuro-oncologist, I believe it is privilege to be involved in a patient鈥檚 life during one of their most challenging periods of their lives. For this reason, I think involvement of the patient in all treatment decisions is crucial to supporting his or her goals of care as much as possible. I believe this shared decision making along with open honesty forms the cornerstone of a successful relationship between the patient and the physician.
