As a nurse practitioner, I believe that my greatest asset to the multidisciplinary team is patient education. I enjoy teaching patients and their families about the etiology of their acute neurological condition. I frequently review acute and subacute treatment options and educate about best self-care strategies to prevent complications or recurrent hospitalizations.  In the fast paced environment of inpatient care, patient education can sometimes be missed, causing decreased patient satisfaction and less ideal patient outcomes.
