As part of the historic nationwide effort to inoculate millions of people against COVID-19, AOAÌåÓýƽ̨, which includes Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital, will open the area’s first COVID-19 vaccination clinics for the general public on January 27.

Hours after the arrival of the Pfizer vaccine at its hospitals, AOAÌåÓýƽ̨ began inoculating team members who provide direct care to patients infected with the novel coronavirus.

The health system expects to be able to vaccinate all its front-line care team members following the delivery of a second allotment that is expected to include both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

The national award recognizes LincolnHealth, Pen Bay Medical Center, Waldo County General Hospital and Stephens Memorial Hospital for outstanding quality and safety.

This policy is an update to the visitor restrictions imposed on Friday, March 20, 2020 and updated on June 16, July 20 and again on November 18. This latest update will take effect on December 4, 2020 and shall remain in effect until further notice.

Twelve hospitals and affiliates celebrated for leadership through annual Gold Star Standards of Excellence program.

The updated rules are effective November 18 for PBMC and WCGH locations, medical practices and rural health centers. They are intended to safeguard patients, visitors and care team members during the coronavirus outbreak.

Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC) and Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH) have earned top honors for prohibiting smoking and tobacco use on campus and addressing patient tobacco use, and two WCGH care team members received individual honors for supporting these efforts.
