Construction work that will nearly double the size of the Emergency Department (ED) at Pen Bay Medical Center will enter its final phase on Monday, March 25. The project, which will add 11 additional exam rooms when completed, is expected to wrap up this summer.

The new approach, which includes renaming local hospitals and medical practices, will make it easier for patients to navigate their care.

To help meet a growing demand for colonoscopies and other gastrointestinal services, Pen Bay Medical Center has added two new providers to its gastroenterology department.

Dr. Mancuso received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England in Biddeford in 2011. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology from the University of Maine in Orono.

“The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he made the gift to express his gratitude for the excellent care Pen Bay has provided to him and his family over decades of summering in the area,� said Amy McNaughton, senior director of philanthropic initiatives at Pen Bay and Waldo County General Hospital.

On Oct. 25, Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) transferred one patient injured in the Lewiston shootings to Maine Medical Center (MMC). That patient has since been discharged. No other AOAÌåÓýƽ̨ hospitals received patients from CMMC.
